Gather
Handle work meals when you do not control the menu.
Office lunches, conferences, team dinners, client meals, road days, and catered events are meals where someone else picks the menu. Have a plan that keeps you fed without making every event revolve around you.

Work food needs a plan.
At work, a meal can be a meeting, a team ritual, a client dinner, a conference buffet, a lunch-and-learn, or a road meal where everyone is trying to keep moving.
Make the request early, clear, and easy to handle. If you can suggest a restaurant, do it. If you cannot, ask what will be available and bring a backup if the event matters.
You do not need to become the office vegan spokesperson every time sandwiches appear. You need a plan that keeps you fed and lets the meal keep moving.
Make the request easy to handle.
A short note is enough: “I eat vegan, so no meat, fish, dairy, eggs, or honey. I am happy with a simple meal if the caterer can confirm ingredients.”
When suggesting restaurants, choose places with naturally vegan mains, not only side salads. A Thai, Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Ethiopian, Japanese, or build-your-own place may work better than a steakhouse with one modified side.
For non-work travel, use the Roam room. This page is for meals where the social or professional setting is part of the problem.
The work and road plan.
Use this when someone else controls the meal.
Office lunch
Ask early, name the simple restriction, and suggest options if the organizer seems unsure.
Team dinner
Look at the menu before saying yes. Suggest places with naturally vegan mains, not only side salads.
Conference buffet
Email ahead if meals are included, then bring snacks because conference meal notes are not always accurate.
Client meal
Keep the request simple and let the restaurant handle it quietly when possible.
Road day
Pack the backup that keeps you steady: nuts, bars, fruit, crackers, sandwich, or whatever makes the next meal less urgent.

Look closer
A backup snack helps the day go better.
It is easier to stay flexible and calm when you are not hungry. A simple snack in your bag can keep one bad meal from taking over the day.
