Use bloodwork when guessing is not enough.
Bloodwork is maintenance, not a punishment or a purity test. A few numbers can answer what worry cannot.

Feeling fine is not the same as checking.
Bloodwork can catch a small gap before it becomes a bigger problem. That matters especially for B12, iron, and vitamin D, where symptoms can be vague, delayed, or caused by more than one thing.
Use the numbers to adjust your routine. Do not use them as a verdict on veganism.
A lab result is not a diagnosis by itself. It belongs in a conversation with a clinician who can interpret the number, symptoms, diet, supplements, life stage, and medical history together.
Ask what each test can answer.
For B12, ask whether serum B12 is enough for you or whether MMA, homocysteine, or active B12 would give a clearer picture and is available. For iron, ask about ferritin and the full iron picture rather than guessing from tiredness alone.
Bring vitamin D, CBC, thyroid, lipids, metabolic markers, pregnancy labs, child growth concerns, medication issues, and symptoms into clinician context. The goal is to stop guessing, not to become your own lab interpreter.
Bloodwork list.
Ask your clinician which tests make sense for your situation.
B12
Serum B12 can help, but ask whether it tells the whole story for you.
MMA, homocysteine, or active B12
Can give a clearer B12 picture in some situations when available and appropriate.
Ferritin and iron
Iron stores can matter with menstruation, pregnancy, kids, fatigue, or endurance training.
CBC
A basic blood count can help interpret fatigue, anemia concerns, and the broader picture.
Vitamin D
Commonly low across diets. Test instead of guessing when it matters.
Timing
Ask what testing rhythm fits you. Pregnancy, childhood, symptoms, medication, deficiency history, or clinician advice can change the schedule.

A steady bloodwork routine can give you better information than vibes, internet arguments, or supplement marketing.

This is general information, not medical advice. Vegan or not, get your bloodwork done and talk to a clinician about your own situation, especially during pregnancy or for a child.
